■Position Description
This role is for an analyst to join the front-office trading analytics team, supporting trading decisions in Japan’s wholesale electricity markets through the use, operation, and continuous improvement of analytical and decision-support models.
You will work across forecasting and fundamental analysis, taking day-to-day ownership of in-house analytical frameworks that directly support trading decisions. These include stack-based price formation models, electricity demand forecasting models, and renewable and hydro generation models, which form the analytical foundation for understanding market dynamics, identifying trading opportunities, and managing risk exposure across different time horizons.
The position requires a strong understanding of power market mechanisms, the ability to interpret and challenge model outputs using market intuition, and bilingual communication skills to collaborate effectively with traders, quantitative teams, and data engineers in a fast-paced front-office environment.

□Market Interpretation & Structural Analysis
・ Monitor and interpret key developments in Japan’s power market using fundamental and modelbased analysis, identifying key drivers across supply, demand, fuel, weather, and policy.
・ Identify structural shifts, emerging risks, or regime changes in the market and communicate potential implications for trading positions and decision-making.

□Scenario Analysis & Trading Support
・ Perform scenario, stress-test, and sensitivity analyses based on fundamental and analytical models,covering extreme weather events, system constraints, outages, fuel price shocks, and policy changes.
・ Contribute to the development of trading views and market outlooks with a strong commercial focus, balancing analytical rigor with practical decision-making needs.

□Analytical Tools & Insights Delivery
・ Take ownership of the day-to-day use of internal analytical tools and datasets, ensuring timely execution, monitoring, and interpretation of model outputs for the trading desk.
・ Proactively identify areas where analytical or modelling improvements can enhance decisionmaking efficiency, robustness, and transparency.

□Cross-Team Communication & Coordination
・ Present analytical findings clearly to both domestic and overseas stakeholders, enabling aligned trading strategies across regions and teams.
・ Work closely with risk management, quantitative, and IT teams to ensure smooth operation, reliability, and continuous improvement of market intelligence workflows.
