QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) or equivalent legal qualification
Qualified to practice law in Japan
Work Experience
Approximately 6-8 years of post-qualification legal experience, including experience advising on commercial transactions, projects, or corporate matters
Prior in-house legal experience preferred
Experience supporting infrastructure, technology, real estate, industrial, or other asset-intensive businesses is advantageous
Experience working in a multinational or international business environment preferred
Technical / Professional Skills
Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills
Ability to provide practical legal advice on corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters
Experience drafting and negotiating agreements in both Japanese and English
Sound understanding of Japanese legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to commercial operations and business activities
Ability to identify legal risks and develop commercially pragmatic solutions
Non-Technical / Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across functions and business teams
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Professional proficiency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken)
Additional Preferred Experience
Experience supporting project-based businesses, infrastructure-related projects, technology businesses, or other complex commercial operations
Familiarity with procurement, construction, facilities, leasing, service, or commercial contracting arrangements
Experience working on business expansion initiatives, large-scale projects, or strategic transactions
Exposure to regulatory compliance, operational governance, and risk management matters
