The Financial Analyst will support investment decisions across our Japan renewable energy portfolio by leading financial modeling, valuation, and analytical work for both greenfield development and M&A transactions. This would include properly modeling such inputs (electricity generation data from PVSysts or Energy Yield Assessments, CAPEX & OPEX assumptions etc.) into our financial models for valuations, preparing forecasts, and providing insights to support business decisions. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency with financial modeling, and an understanding of project finance and the renewable energy sector, particularly solar PV, onshore wind and BESS segments within the renewable energy industry. The candidate will be expected to liaise and coordinate within our company and advisors in order to aid in our valuation efforts for internal greenfield project development as well as for M&A deals.

Responsibilities:
〇Deal Origination & Execution:
・Support and assist the M&A team with the execution of M&A transactions from pre-NBO to closing.
・Manage workstreams across valuation, modeling, due diligence and process coordination.
・Potentially assist in the origination of greenfield projects and/or M&A deals for the Business Development and M&A teams.

〇Financial Analysis & Modeling:
・Build, review and adjust detailed financial models to evaluate internal greenfield projects as well as M&A transactions, run valuation scenarios, sensitivities and assess financial impacts.
・Research and evaluate the credit-worthiness of offtakers that will purchase our produced electricity. This could entail reviewing Annual Reports and precedent offtake deals to find out more about the financial capability of the offtaker.

〇Cross-Functional Collaboration:
・Work closely with internal teams (Business Development, M&A, Engineering & Construction, Asset Management, Legal and Compliance) as well as external advisors (technical, environmental & social, legal, financial & tax) to ensure seamless execution.

〇Budgeting & Forecasting:
・Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
・Track actual performance against the budget, highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions.
・Analyze production costs and recommend strategies to improve profitability and reduce expenses. Support pricing decisions by evaluating cost structures and profitability scenarios.

〇Reporting & Presentations:
・Prepare and present financial reports, internal project/M&A approvals, dashboards, and presentations for management and key stakeholders.
・Collaborate with different departments to gather financial data and provide actionable insights.

〇Market & Business Analysis:
・Research market trends and sector benchmarks, economic conditions and company research in the solar PV, onshore wind and BESS industry.
