POSITION SUMMARY:
Day to day operations of the liability underwriting team and provide support to the Liability underwriting manager.

KEY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(a)Underwriting
1.Review of all allocated risks, new and renewal
2.Identify risk accumulation, profitability of the account
3.Identify referral triggers based on HDI Global Underwriting Guidelines and Branch Authority
4.Assist in issuance and review of policy wording
5.Prepare initial calculations for underwriting
6.Identify opportunities for growth through existing portfolio
7.Operate within the delegated underwriting authority and underwriting guidelines
(b)Marketing
1.Visit clients, agents, brokers including reinsurance brokers with Underwriters to maintain and develop relationships
2.Attend customer and broker presentations required by Property Underwriting Manager
3.Maintain contact with other underwriters within the market and ensure that HDI Global SE, Japan enhances its reputation in the Japan market
4.Feedback market information to LoB managers
5.Attendance at appropriate conferences, seminars, discussion groups, involvement in industry bodies considered beneficial to the company, subject to approval by Property Underwriting Manager
(c)Administration
1.Prepare documents for UW Operations in order to enter contracts/premium in the system, to create policy and RoC for IP installation

2.Follow up outstanding premium closings and policy wordings as requested by Liability Underwriters
3.Assist in issuance of policies
4.Assist in issuance of premium certificates, invoice, application if required
5.Monitor all outstanding quotations and pending renewals, tracking and updating progress via the maintenance of the renewal register and quotation register
6.Assist in peer reviews and file audit
(d)Reinsurance
1.Assist in placing facultative reinsurance, subject to approval, with Talanx Group approved professional reinsurers
2.Maintain long term relationships with reinsurers
(e)Other
1.Active participation in improving tools, processes and organizational matters related to the LoB
2.Active support of LoB specific projects

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:
1.Basic technical and scientific understanding of the mechanism of HDI core business / industry and when to get risk analysis specialist involved
2.Basic knowledge of:
-Business administration (e.g. profit & loss accounts)
-Local insurance law and the terminologies used
-General conditions in Liability insurance products
-Liability wordings and covers
-Knowledge in relevant UW Tools
-Central reinsurance program and requirements for facultative placements
-Captives (wording, pricing, security, collaterals)
3.Basic knowledge of English
4.General IT skills and ability of knowledge transfer in IT tools
5.Basic understanding of Claims Handling
6.Basic knowledge of reinsurance, appropriate to the market environment
7.Experience in intercultural communications and negotiations
