<JOB SUMMARY>
A Senior Consultant is an experienced management consultant with the ability to manage day-to-day project operations and to create high-quality project materials and client deliverables (including organizational, portfolio, and asset-specific recommendations) for client engagements autonomously and with minimal direction. Expectations include the ability to manage client needs, project scope, varying project resources, and potentially heavy workloads. A Senior Consultant is responsible for structuring and completing individual project tasks, contributing to project workstreams, developing creative solutions, creating high-quality slides quickly, and collaborating effectively with clients, team members, and project leadership. In this role, one may assume increased levels of project responsibility and management, depending upon experience, project staffing, client contracts, and/or project needs.
<JOB RESPONSIBILITIES>
•Builds positive working relationships with clients, consulting staff, managers, leadership, and internal support teams.
• Achieves billable utilization targets in service to client engagements.
• Proactively seeks opportunities to build skills, experiences, and relationships by contributing to project engagements, internal initiatives, and business development opportunities.
• Contributes active support to proposal development, including the building of pricers, anticipated staffing and resource needs, and proposal decks. Supports the selling process by conducting background research, identifying key business questions, and participating, as needed, in proposals and pitches to win new projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage heavy workloads and competing responsibilities related to being staffed on multiple projects at the same time.
Delivery
・Significantly contributes to the overall cross-functional management of projects, at both the client organization, as well as internally at Syneos Health. Understands, communicates, and maintains project scope, approach, budget, resource allocations, and timelines. Analyzes business and operating procedures, as well as available resources, to devise the most efficient methods of accomplishing work. Accountable for project activities and leverages internal tools and tracking systems to ensure project objectives, milestones, and timelines are met efficiently and effectively. Must be able to quickly adapt to changing priorities to achieve goals and targets.
・May operate as the day-to-day point person for the development of client deliverables and management of the client relationship and contract. May act as the primary liaison with clients, or in collaboration with project management and/or leadership. Establishes a trusted advisor relationship with the client through personableness, trust, credibility, and reliability.
・Strategically identifies and evaluates relevant secondary research data sources (analytically and scientifically based). Using research from competitive pipelines, company websites, prescribing information, epidemiology information, and syndicated reports, a Senior Consultant summarizes complex industry, market, client portfolio, and product data and trends in a clear and comprehensive manner.
・Drives the development of discussion guides for primary interviews (internal and external) with minimal oversight. Conducts interviews with physicians, payers, patients, key opinion leaders, health care providers, and other stakeholders. Leverages and synthesizes primary research data into strategic recommendations and accompanying documentation for team and client review.
・Demonstrated proficiency in navigating the management consulting cycle of creating project deliverables, quality checking work, reviewing with project management/leadership, incorporating edits and feedback, and resubmitting work pieces for deliverable inclusion in a timely, efficient manner. Understands project roles and responsibilities and the impact on the broader client contract and statement of work. Exhibits exceptional attention to detail.
・Prepares for, attends, and may facilitate client meetings and presentations. Takes primary responsibility for taking notes, writing up meeting minutes, summarizing next steps and action items, scheduling follow-up meetings, and communicating post-meeting, as appropriate. Acts as the subject matter expert on data, findings, and recommendations outlined in meeting materials and client deliverables. Responsible for fielding client questions and anticipating client questions and concerns. Demonstrates confidence and credibility through interpersonal skills and contentknowledge.
・Creates high-quality PowerPoint slides quickly, effectively, and autonomously, in accordance with Consulting style guidelines and templates. Demonstrates a strategic and systematic decision-making approach to communicating data through text, graphics, images, and/or other communication choices. Designs and builds a compelling, structured, and logical storyboard with minimal oversight.
・Leverages critical thinking and problem-solving skills to recommend creative ideas based on data analysis, personal experience, and industry best practices. Works with project management/leadership to challenge and pressure test client recommendations, when appropriate. Anticipates and supports client needs, concerns, and challenges through the design of alternatives and contingency plans. Demonstrates resourcefulness.
・Uses judgement and discernment to communicate with clients, team members, and project management/leadership on a regular basis. Proactively communicates when timing is at risk. “Manages up” to keep project management/leadership informed of activities, team dynamics, project status, scope changes, potential risks, and business development opportunities.
