【Job Description】

About the department and services

The Data Science team is responsible for providing data science solutions to Rakuten Travel's product (website/smartphone app), marketing, sales, advertising, quality control, and other departments. Using machine learning and mathematical optimization approaches, we make direct and quantitative contributions to Rakuten Travel's bottom line.

【Position】
The activities of the Data Intelligence Office consist of 1. clarification of business issues, 2. algorithm development, 3. online evaluation (AB testing, etc.), and 4. production system development.
This position is responsible for the development of the system for AB testing (No. 3) and the development of the production system (No. 4).

【Job Description】
Working closely with data scientists and other engineers, you will focus on the following tasks
(1)Developing highly scalable data pipelines
(2) DevOps and MLOps for data science including infrastructure
You will be involved in the development and operation of a wide range of applications running our machine learning algorithms and A/B testing systems, both real-time and batch systems.

【Working Environment】
The percentage of foreigners in the department is high, and the official language is English. There are members who are good at algorithm development and members who are good at system development.
More than half of the members are from mid-career. We have members with backgrounds in mathematics, physics, and computer science.
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) : All functions Rakuten internal systems : VMs (Linux/Windows), Teradata, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kubernetes, Kafka, Airflow, GitHub, CircleCI, Couchbase, Datadog

【Required Qualifications】
・Proficiency in Python and SQL.
・Ability to develop quick, high quality APIs using Python or GO.
・Basic knowledge of machine learning.
・Ability to develop data pipelines and real-time processing using Airflow, Kubeflow, Kafka, Spark, etc.
・Familiarity with NoSQL/RDB (e.g., MySQL, BigQuery, MongoDB, CouchBase)
・At least 3 years of experience equivalent to the above
・Bachelor's degree or higher
・Fluent in English.

【Welcome requirements】
・At least 5 years of experience equivalent to the above
・Basic DevOps skills (CI/CD, monitoring, etc.)
・Ability to convert existing Python code to GO, C++, Rust, etc.
・Proficiency in serverless development such as AWS/Lambda, GCP/Cloud Run, etc.
・Business level Japanese language skills.
