【Objectives of the Position】
• Responsible for implementing Fill and Pack (FP) technology transfers to own sites and contract manufacturers (CM) in APA including update of technical database when necessary
• Responsible for providing technical support to own sites and CMs, act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in terms of fill and pack processes and technology related topics
• Act as Technology Manager for FP projects (both for Capital Investment and Operational Excellence) at APA own sites and CMs
• Develop/ update/ align APA FP strategy with APA Operations and relevant stakeholders
• Drive implementation of follow up actions in FP Risk Management and cost optimization initiatives
• Ensure compliance (both internal and external) of Formulation, Filling and Packing (FFP) CM activities (processes, documentation/ reporting, Responsible Care (RC), Quality Assurance (QA)) in Japan and Korea CMs. This includes timely follow up of agreed audit recommendations/ actions.
• Responsible for relationship and contract management in Japan and Korea CMs
• Drive continuous improvements (efficiency, flexibility/ reliability, cost optimization) and best practice sharing/ replications in Japan and Korea CMs
• Support Source-to-Contract for Japan and Korea CMs along with other procurement processes for contract manufacturing
• Support formulation technology transfer and lead FP technology transfer including New Product Launch (NPL) to Japan and Korea CMs. Provide technical and engineering support for project implementation at Japan and Korea CMs.
【Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities】
■Technical Management
• Act as decision maker from technical perspective for APA Filling and Packing (FP) related activities
• Lead/ facilitate FP technology transfer to own sites and contract manufacturers in APA in collaboration with APT/TF, APR/D, APT/Q, APA/OP (Site Managers and/ or Sub-regional Contract Manufacturing Managers) for both existing and new repacking introductions, ensure high standard of reliability and integrity for own sites and contract manufacturers
• Provide technical input and solution on APA FP Asset Strategy development, ensuring alignment with APA Business and AP FFP Asset Strategies
• Provide support to own sites and contract manufacturers in terms of root cause analysis and resolving FP technical problems, reviewing FP procedures. Proactively identify potential capacity issues and propose mitigation measures.
• Review and implement Management of Change (MOC) processes, support continuous improvement activities, and provide timely technical expertise/ advisory service based on demands
• Drive/ organize relevant FP best practice and learning sharing within APA Operations team
■Project Management
• Act as Project Technology Manager for key APA FP projects at own sites and contract manufacturers
• Provide support in terms of technical feed for project design and execution phase, ensure successful technical startup of new refilling trial at own sites and contract manufacturers
• Provide technical support to Site Asset Managers in terms of FP technical management and processes, i.e., specification, risk assessment, technical, and selection process
• Support Site Asset Managers by proposing and justifying needed improvements and typical solutions including design/ selection, installation, and test
• Monitor project implementation and facilitate technical decision making for critical/ difficult cases
■Responsible Care/ Quality Assurance
• Provide support on Quality Assurance and NCM improvement from FP technical perspectives
• Provide support on EHS audit follow up on technical part including process modification and/ or material management
■FFP Contract Manufacturing Strategy
1. Support implementation of JP/KR CM strategy in line with APA CM strategy
2. Provide support to Contract Manufacturers on FFP technology, packaging, engineering, and best practices
3. Facilitate technological transfer and manufacturing solution for FFP to the respective sub-region Contract Manufacturers
4. Support the Formulation Manufacturing Manual (FMM) development/ update for sub-regional formulation in line with Global Quality and Consistency Requirements
■Contract Management
1. Ensure BASF and legal requirements and standards are incorporated into CM contracts within sub-region
2. Ensure all Contract Manufacturing agreements are up-to-date and uploaded in relevant BASF system(s)
3. Ensure all Contract Manufacturers or scope changes are reviewed by all relevant functions and documented at RegRefDB
4. Carry out regular visits to contract manufacturers as part of relationship management
■Performance Management
1. Support CM performance monitoring through KPIs, benchmarks, audits, and defined parameters
2. Implement continuous improvements (cost saving – tolling fee, formulant, packaging, efficiency/ flexibility/ reliability)
3. Coordinate and support exchanges and implementation of applicable best practices
4. Support communication process from sub region CM activities to country and regional stakeholders
■Compliance management
1. Support sustainable and timely implementation of action items or plan resulting from RC & QA-CPS audits
2. Carry out regular visits to CMs to assess compliance with BASF and legal standards and requirements
3. Support adherence of all CM activities to Procurement Delegation Agreement
■Formulation & Packaging Technology
1. Support scale-up test for new local formulations to ensure consistent high product quality output
2. Support compliance with applicable external (international and local) regulations and internal (BASF) standards and requirements in Japan and Korea
3. Support standardization and harmonization in packaging in line with APA Packaging Strategy in Japan and Korea
