Overall Purpose of the Role
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for managing end-to-end supply chain operations for the local market, ensuring compliance with Japanese regulations and GDP standards. This standalone role involves pre-launch preparation, post-launch operational management, and continuous process improvements to support commercial objectives and subsequent product launches. The position requires close collaboration with the Japan commercial team and Global
HQ to ensure seamless product availability and distribution.

Key Responsibilities and Working Relationships
Geographical Responsibility
• Local: The role focuses on supply chain operations within Japan, ensuring alignment with local regulations and market needs.
Management Responsibility
• Standalone Role: This position does not have direct reports but requires independent management of supply chain processes and vendor relationships.
Responsibilities
1. Pre-launch Preparation:
• Establish supply chain processes in compliance with Japanese regulations and
GDP.
• Coordinate with global teams to ensure product availability, importation, packaging, and distribution readiness.
• Set up vendor relationships with local 3PLs, wholesalers, and distributors.
2. Post-launch Operations:
• Oversee demand and supply planning, inventory management, and order
fulfillment.
• Act as the primary contact between the Japan commercial team and Global HQ
for supply chain-related issues.
• Monitor KPIs and ensure compliance with GDP and internal quality standards.
3. Continuous Improvement and New Launches:
• Drive process optimization and risk mitigation strategies.
• Prepare for and support subsequent product launches.
• Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, and Finance teams to ensure smooth
operations.
Working Relationships
• Internal Stakeholders:
• Collaborate with the Japan commercial team, Quality, Regulatory, and Finance
departments.
• Liaise with global teams to align supply chain processes and address
operational issues.
• External Stakeholders:
• Manage vendor relationships with local 3PLs, wholesalers, and distributors.

Role-Specific Competencies
Professional Competencies
1. Strong knowledge of supply chain operations, including demand planning, inventory management, logistics, and distribution.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
3. Business-level English proficiency (written and spoken) for communication with global teams.
4. Fluent Japanese with strong communication skills.

Level of Education
• Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in any field is required. A degree in Supply Chain
Management, Business Administration, or a related field is considered a plus.

Required Experience
1. Minimum 3 years of relevant supply chain management experience in the
pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
2. Strong understanding of GDP (Good Distribution Practice) regulations.
3. SAP system experience is a plus.
